Origami Bison - Kevin Box & Robert J. Lang
When a storm gathers on the horizon, the North American bison does something remarkable: rather than seek shelter or flee, it turns to face the storm and charges directly into it. By moving head-on through the weather, the herd passes swiftly to the other side, shortening the time it spends in danger.
This sculpture marks the first collaboration between Kevin Box and world-renowned origami artist Robert J. Lang. Lang designed and folded the bison from a single, uncut square of paper using a technique called duogami, in which the paper is a different color on each side. Here, white on one face and silver on the other. Box then finalized the paper model in wax, capturing its gesture before transforming it into metal.
